Succulent Ramblings

I like to ramble on about my plants... and other things! My hope is to log the progress of plants and talk about my frustrations with others. So, tune in, turn on, or drop out (if you find it boring!)

It was WARM today!!  My car said it was 52 as I went out to work at around 2:00.  Bee-you-ti-ful!!  A week ago, it was horrible - I don't think it got up above 5 degrees, and Monday was even worse.  So this is a real treat!  I could have hung out in a tee-shirt, seriously.

I'm watching my plants for new growth.  We're now 3 weeks into the days getting longer, so it won't be long before I start seeing signs.  Everything seems to be looking fairly perky, but so far, I haven't seen any significant signs of new growth.  I can't hardly wait to find that first burst of growth on a plant!!

It's about 3 weeks to the Home & Garden Show at the CenturyLink center.  Kathy & I decided to run a booth down there because they have GIVEN us space.  Most clubs, vendors, etc., pay $600 or more for a booth, and they want us there bad enough to give us all the space we want for free.  We plan to bring plants to show, and then we've ordered in some small C&S to sell from a vendor in Texas.  It's 4 days and I have a feeling it'll be exhausting, but I think I'll enjoy it.  It's nice to be able to be a main participant.  At our annual show and sale, I always feel more like a sidelines participant because it falls when we're busiest at work, and I can't be there very much.

I watered a lot of the plants in the sunroom today.  Here's one I'm particularly impressed with, Hoya myrmcopa.  Weird name.  Cute little plant.  It's grow considerably - I got it in April from Joni and it rooted fast, grew nicely.  I'd post a photo, but since I can't "turn" them to look right here, I'll have to get another photo.  H. deykeae looks AWESOME!  On the other hand, rotundifolia (aka 'Square Leaf') is not looking so hot, so I put it in the aquarium, hoping it will plump back up.  I took Krimson Queen and whacked it back, hoping new cuttings would rejuvenate it. It has done ok, mind you, but it hasn't bloomed.  And lately, it was looking a little dehydrated.  So I thought this is a good time to restart it and see if we can't get it juiced up and blooming.  We'll see...

Well, more in the next few days.  I plan to spend some time watering tomorrow, so I may have lots to talk about if I find some new growth!
