Succulent Ramblings

I like to ramble on about my plants... and other things! My hope is to log the progress of plants and talk about my frustrations with others. So, tune in, turn on, or drop out (if you find it boring!)

We lost Remo yesterday. It's been a miserable few weeks. He came down with what seemed like a bad sinus infection or something a few weeks ago. Sinus drainage (some of which was bloody...), sneezing, trouble breathing because of the congestion. The docs seems puzzled, ruling out this and that. Finally, they put him completely under and looked everything over and found three bad sores on the roof of his mouth. They biopsied them and sent them off. We found out Thursday that they were an aggressive form of cancer. No wonder my baby has been so miserable! I knew from the way he was acting and his apparent misery that it was serious and the antibiotics were not helping. So we put him to sleep yesterday. It was very traumatic - Remo has been my best bud, my fluff-pal, the light of my life for nearly nine years. A few pics...

Remo was all about the ball. He loved nothing more than to spend hours catching the ball, either inside or out. These balls, made my Pedigree, had gotten very hard to find. Apparently, they quit making them and the last batch I bought, I actually had to get from a place in England because I couldn't find any here in the states!! That's how important his ball-ball was to him!

One of Remo's favorite spots was the loveseat. As you can see, he was quite comfortable on it! Remo was 120 pounds of fun, and he loved everyone. Oh, mind you, he had a fierce bark at the door, but the moment a guest was let in, he wanted nothing more than to be petted and to have them toss his ball. Toss the ball and you were Remo's friend for life! What a great buddy he was!
