It's sure been awhile since I posted. Blogger has changed their format again. Change is good, sometimes... I'll try not to complain...
I only wanted to post tonight so I can create a rememberance of the sounds of fall... I know... I've been through about 50 falls, but this is what's wonderful about the drastic change of seasons. You never really tire of the beautiful signs. The last few days have been warm - I mean, unseasonably warm. As has this entire month, really (for the most part...) They predicted this cold front coming in. And earlier today, about 3:00, I laid down on my bed for a little cat-nap, and the north wind was coming up. Up to the point that it was blowing my top sheet (the one I call the "fur-sheet" that catches cat & dog fur to keep it from settling on my comforter...), blowing up up in front of me, into a balloon, then it would deflate. Infalte, deflate. And it was a warmish breeze, comfortable. It was a pleasure to lay there and soak up the breeze. I didn't get more than a wink or two of nap-time, which is ok...
Now, it's about 10:45, and I'm in the spare bedroom with the window open, and I can hear the wind gusting, blowing the leaves in swirls. Then it settles and quiets, then blows again. If someone asked me to make a CD of the sounds of fall, this would be it. Of course, you can also hear my wind chimes. I know some people find them obnoxious, but I find nothing more soothing than a GOOD set of windchimes. I'm not talking about the cheapy ones you buy at Walmart, but a good set of TUNED wind chimes. It's like listening to a new song with every breeze. Some are more melodic than others, granted, but all have their charismatic qualities. I have a set of very fine chimes outside my bedroom window and I savor evenings nice enough to have my window open to fall asleep to a new, sweet melody...
I guess I'd better get to bed. I really just wanted to capture this pleasant feeling. One usually has to be physically outside to appreciate these sounds, as it would normally be too cold to be sitting inside with the windows open and a gusty north wind blowing about the leaves. It's kind of a fluke... one I didn't want to forget...

I know what you mean about the windchimes. I have a really wonderful sounding one on my front porch that I could listen to all day, but I also bought a really good LARGE one that makes deeper sounds and it drives me nutty...oh well. The weather changes are so great for naps! My favorite time of year! Take care!!!
