Ok, so the "cucumber slumber" didn't turn out to be a cure for the night-time headaches, but it still does seem to create a very restful sleep. The headaches came back a couple days after I quit taking the prednisone, but they weren't quite as intense. They've slowly been diminishing, and in the last 2 or 3 days, I've been sneezing off and on during the day (something I wasn't doing during these weeks and weeks with this shit...), and my sinuses seem to be back to their old pain-in-the-ass mode. Which means I'm not really having any headaches at night, just a hint of pressure. So whatever it is/was, I'm gettting over it. Next time I decide to complain about the sinus issues I've had all my life, I will try to remember those blinding headaches and appreciate that it's just drainage and phlegm. I can tollerate that, I guess...


So back to the subject of plants. I was so excited this morning when I moved a plant and saw new growth on ***da-da-da-DAA*** Hoya bordenii. This is one I got as a cutting from Dee in April and when I pulled it from the box, the only leaf on the stem popped off. A beautiful leaf that made me say some very bad words! Well, I went ahead and planted both the leafless stem and the popped off leaf. Rarely does a leafless stem root, but it does happen every once in awhile. And a healthy leaf will almost always root, but rarely will grow. In fact, I've rooted dozens and dozens of leaves over the years and have yet to have one produce new growth. Well, the stem quickly died, and the leaf quickly rooted. It looked pretty, but I knew from experience the chances of it producing a plant, so I thought I'd just give it some time and see what happens. Well, about a week or so ago, I noticed the leaf had lost its firmness and was looking a little - well, flacid. I thought, well, I guess this is it - it's not going to make it. But I left it - I have a "don't give up until the fat lady sings" attitude when it comes to plants. And thank goodness! There it was today with about a 10" vine popping from the soil, with two tiny leaves growing!!! Yippie!!



Today, I heard the plants I ordered from Plumerindr have been shipped. I should have them in 10 days or so. Earlier this week, I got an e-mail from Chris Burton that my Liddle cuttings will be on their way this week (from Australia, that is...), so those should be getting here in the next two or three weeks, too. Oh my - where will I put them all???
