Succulent Ramblings

I like to ramble on about my plants... and other things! My hope is to log the progress of plants and talk about my frustrations with others. So, tune in, turn on, or drop out (if you find it boring!)

Just wanted to pop in to memorialize a meal I had last night...  I had a salmon filet in the fridge I needed to use, and I've been craving soup, so I decided to make salmon chowder.  It was SO good, I wanted to write down how I made it to refer back to again...

I made it a single serving, so I started with some chopped celery, onion and carrot.  All told, it was probably a little over 1/2 cup.  I sauteed that in some olive oil, adding the cubed salmon halfway through that process so it could cook. (I always salt and pepper as I saute.)  I added a tablespoon of flour to that and let it form a roux, then added a half cup of milk.  I added a few shakes of Old Bay seasoning. At this point, I got the bright idea of adding a big handful of Schwan's kale & vegetable mix I have in the freezer (this stuff is good in a lot of stuff!)  Once it rewarmed and started to bubble, I added another half cup of milk and a little more Old Bay.  It was delish!  I ate it with a slice of toasted rye bread...yummy!  AND it was so pretty, I took a photo!

Next blog will be about the RCCSS show and sale...
